Daniel RentfroDaniel L. Rentfro, Jr.

Daniel Rentfro Jr. has almost thirty years of experience representing individuals, businesses, and public entities in a broad array of civil matters, including real estate and construction disputes (including condemnation proceedings), insurance claims, and employer-employee relations, both in state and federal court. In addition, he serves as general or special counsel to a number of public entities in the Lower Rio Grande Valley.

Mr. Rentfro began his professional career as a briefing attorney for Justice Franklin Spears of the Texas Supreme Court. In 1984, he returned to the Rio Grande Valley to join the Rentfro firm. Mr. Rentfro has been very active in professional organizations, serving as Chairman of the State Bar of Texas Commercial and Consumer Law Section, Vice-Chairman of the State Bar of Texas Pattern Jury Charge Subcommittee on Business, Consumer, and Employment Law, and Chairman of the Cameron County Bar Association. He has been a frequent lecturer at State Bar of Texas continuing education seminars in the areas of commercial and consumer law, and has written articles for the Texas Lawyer.

Mr. Rentfro is a native of the Rio Grande Valley. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with high honors (special honors in English) from the University of Texas at Austin in 1977, and a Master of Arts in English from Northwestern University in 1979. He graduated with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1983. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Order of the Coif.

Mr. Rentfro has been accepted as a postgraduate student at the University of St. Andrews (Scotland), where he will begin part-time study towards a Master of Letters degree in September 2013.

David IrwinDavid F. Irwin

David Irwin began his career as a lawyer when he joined the Rentfro firm in 2009. Since his career began at the Rentfro firm, he has represented individuals, businesses, and public entities in civil matters, which include litigation and transactional matters related to estate planning and probate, real estate, local government law, business and commercial law, employment law, and general practice. He assists Mr. Rentfro’s service as general or special counsel for a number of public entities in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and is general counsel for the Town of Bayview, Texas.

Mr. Irwin is a native of the Rio Grande Valley. Prior to joining the Rentfro firm, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006, and received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 2009. He obtained a variety of experience during that time through working for various employers such as Sports Illustrated, Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr., Travis County Attorney’s Office, Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution, the Rentfro Faulk law firm, and Federal District Judge Andrew S. Hanen. He also obtained a student bar card and represented misdemeanor defendants in Travis County, Texas, as a Student Attorney for the Criminal Defense Clinic. He also served as the Chief Articles Editor of the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, & Energy Law during his final year of law school.

Mr. Irwin has served on the Board of Directors for the Cameron County Young Lawyers Association, is the current President Elect of the Cameron County Young Lawyers Association, and is a graduate of Leadership Brownsville Class XXVII.

Bill IrwinWilliam “Bill” J. Irwin

William “Bill” Irwin joined The Rentfro Law Firm as an associate attorney after completing law school and passing the
Texas Bar Exam in 2011. Since returning to Brownsville, he has represented individuals and businesses in a variety of
civil matters. His areas of practice include estate planning, probate law, real estate law, local government law, business
and commercial law.

Bill was born and raised in Brownsville. Upon finishing high school at St. Joseph Academy, he attended The University of Texas at Austin where he graduated in 2008 with honors and special honors in Government. In 2008, he was named a William Jennings Bryan Scholar for an outstanding undergraduate thesis in Government. Bill received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Mississippi in 2011. While studying in Oxford, Bill was a senior member of The Civil Legal Clinic’s Low-Income Housing Division, which is devoted to providing legal services to less fortunate individuals and families facing eviction or foreclosure, as well as victims of illegal lockouts and predatory lending practices.

Bill is a member the Cameron County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Cameron County Young Lawyers Association. While he is not working, Bill enjoys reading, music, playing golf, exercising, and watching sports of all kinds.
